Leslie,
I was starting to feel bad because I couldn’t make it to Austin’s Award Ceremony, but…thanks to your DORK-E-NESS, you mixed up the dates and you were the only parent to show up at his school hoping to get a front row seat. Muahaha Too funny!
You are this weeks DORK!

Dork: USA pejorative slang for a quirky, silly, socially inept person, or one who is out of touch with contemporary trends. Often confused with nerd and geek, but does not imply the same intelligence level.

The day before yesterday I finally snapped at Austin and barraged him with pent up anger I had towards him.
This all started because Austin couldn’t find his phone. He said he checked everywhere and couldn’t find it. 2 seconds into my search I found his phone in the couch. I stared at him and went from “Super Calm Dad who didn’t want to see his son go home” to “Super Pissed Dad who wanted to strangle his son like Homer would do to Bart.”

Don't you ever feel this way?
I was furious! I threw his phone on the floor and I told Austin “I am sick of you being lazy and doing everything half-assed. I have tried to take the high road and hoped that you would have learned from your past mistakes, but you have shown your mom and I nothing but disappointment and WE have had enough! If you dare miss one more homework assignment, I’m going to take back everything I have given you and you will not be allowed to call me until you are done with all your stuff. – On the way home – If you don’t shape up…I’m going to send you to Military school and you can kiss all your friends, your VIDEO GAMES, the freedom you have, and all the fun good-bye. What you call “joy” will no longer exist. Sit there and think about that!” I left it there and dropped him off.
Pent up anger – Over the year, he has lied to Leslie and I about his homework being finished, having several missing assignments, and he has been slacking with his chores.
On the flip side – Les and I spoke yesterday and we can’t completely blame him for slacking on his chores. We tend to take care of it if he doesn’t.
Austin, Our love for you has no end and we want nothing but the best for you, but for now, we’re going to be pretty tough on you. You’re going to see a different side of us from here on out. There will be no room for mistakes. Don’t get me wrong – we’ll still do all the fun things you like to do, but none of that will happen you if you lie, don’t do your homework, or get your chores done. You’re going to learn “if you want to play hard, you’re gonna have to work hard first.” Until you can clean up your act, this is how it’s going to be.
We love you little man! Please try to understand why we are doing this.
